At our Quarterly Business Meeting on April 15th we considered a recommendation from the Worship Leadership Team to call Rey Ybarra and Roman Suarez as our worship music leaders. The vote was 73% in favor of calling them. I have shared this with Rey, and he and Roman are praying for the Lord’s direction. Please be praying for them as they seek God’s will for them at this time.

We also heard a report from the Sunday School Leadership Team about plans to boost inter-generational fellowship within our church by having a brief fellowship time between Sunday School and worship on the 2nd Sunday of each month. This will begin on May 13th. Our Sunday School classes will dismiss at 10:15am so that everyone can go to the Fellowship Hall for fellowship until 10:40am when it will be time to begin moving toward the Sanctuary for our worship time. To avoid distraction from the fellowship time, only coffee will be available. We would like for parents of four and five year olds to pick their children up so they and their teacher can be a part of the fellowship time. Younger preschoolers will stay with the nursery workers as they do during the worship service. We hope this will be a great time for everyone in our church to become better acquainted. I want to encourage everyone to be intentional about seeking out someone to visit with whom you do not know very well.

Vacation Bible School for this summer is scheduled for July 15-19, from 6pm to 9pm each evening. We need for volunteers to sign up to help with this significant event. The sign-up sheet is on the Foyer table. Please be praying about the spot where the Lord might want you to serve. Time is getting short, so we need to know who is available. For all others, please pray for our volunteers, and for a successful experience with VBS this summer.

Ministries and missionaries sponsored by the North American Mission Board throughout the United States and Canada are depending on our support through the Annie Armstrong Easter Offer for North American Missions. Our goal is $1,800. So far we have received $1,173.40. I hope you are planning to bring your offering this Sunday so we can meet our goal and celebrate another successful emphasis on North American Missions. Even as we move beyond this annual challenge, we can continue to pray for God to move in the hearts of individuals across our country.

Several of you have signed up to help with Vacation Bible School this summer. The sign-up sheets will be available again this Sunday, so I hope those of you who are called to this ministry will pick your spot. If you are not called to direct involvement, please be praying for those who are, and for the children and families we have the opportunity to touch this summer. The dates are July 15-19, 2012.

Our Spring Men’s Retreat is fast approaching. The dates are April 19-22. There is still room for those of you who may decide to go at the last minute. We need your money this coming Sunday. If you are planning to leave with the group on Thursday, your cost is $35. For those coming on Friday, the cost is $25. Please give your money to Kevin Keiper this Sunday. I am going with the men on this retreat and will not be back until Sunday evening. Nate Marino is going to preach in my absence that Sunday morning. Please be praying for Nate as he prepares.
